Retribution: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Dec. 14, 2012, Lyphar
Well CCP has really fubared everything.
Whoever's genius idea it was to make the new aggression color be teal needs a slap on the back from a spy. Teal is WAY too close to allied and corp colors
to use for hostiles and I've been using teal for fleet (since fleet generally is friendly and somewhere between blue or corp). I swapped the new Limited Engagement
with you to black (flashy black is ideal).
Circles. Circles EVERYWHERE. Granted, I love the apeal of the circle, but for targeting it gets stupid. It used to be that with box targets, they wouldn't clutter up your
screen, and you could line them up with the rest of your UI. Now the circle targets out in space take up 2x the space that boxes did, so window gets very cluttered when
running missions, and god help you if you try to FC a large fleet in that mess.
Fleet Hangers have now replaced all corp hangers on ships such as the orca, carriers, and the rorq. The disadvantage, is that one can't sort ore based on who dropped
what. The advantage is that it now remembers your settings and you can easily set who has access to your corp hanger and your SHIP MAINTANCE BAY. Also
there are now various sized frieght containers for those who like sorting their orcas (these will be available in a few days).
CCP hates drones. New AI nukes your drones, even if you have aggro. The AI will also trash the weakest link in fleet so no salvagers/logi during combat. Think sleepers
from WHs.
Ancillary Shield boosters got a bit of a nerf, can only hold 7 instead of 10 charges and take more cap if you run out of boosters, but are still worth while to play with on BC
and BS.
The Good. New destroyers, new ore frig, new slew of rebalanced ships. We have the BPOs of the venture and 3x of the destroyers (not the minmatar atm), and I'm
loving the corax (aka Space Sub). Osprey got rebalanced to be better, the coercer has an extra midslot (finally, don't have to decide between prop and scram), all
frigs have been rebalanced, generally have more drone space (drones on frigs?). Noctis now has drone bay for salvage drones supposively, but salvage drones don't
autosalvage if aggressive is set and have a terrible salavage chance. Recommend EC-300s, but salvage drones will be available.
The new camera settings are fun to play with, makes directional scanning REALLY easy, and makes cinematography very easy. Hope to see a lot more machinima from the
EVE world with these settings. Of course nothing tops Clear Skies.
There is also now racial sensor skills out. Go get the ones for your race of ships, it'll help with lock time and vs ECM.
Official Statement: End of War with Ubuntu
June 7, 2012, Lyphar
WAR - Ubuntu
930mil. isk delta in our favor (Kills - Losses). Number of kills were 2x. Number of POD kills were near 3x.
I was VERY liberal in the calculations and did not include the costs of War Dec. (which was 400+mil for at least 2x weeks of the war), and
included mercenaries kills/losses as well as allies. With ObChF Solo kills we had 830mil delta.
I am still working calculations on POD Slayer and Rob's and my total kills and delta. Ubuntu bounties are still in effect.
We stand against the horde of Ubuntu.
OBLIVION VICTORIOUS
Official Statement: War with Ubuntu
April 24, 2012, Lyphar
For those of you directed to my site and corp from Ubuntu's corp info, we have no affiliation with Ubuntu, and they are hostile targets for
our corp/alliance. Allow me to get the truth out there of what happened. In Sept. 2011, Ubuntu invaded Ziona. Now I say invasion as that
is what it was even though they initially came in quietly. At which time they started harrasing established corportations and miners in sys.,
war deccing them one at a time untill they were forced out or left from disinterest. One of the Ubuntu noobs convoed my alt to attempt a
threat, at which time we marked their corp as orange so as to keep an eye on them. Ubuntu struck the first blow on 10/12/2011 (D/M/Y)
against one of my ExO's hulks. We struck back more than two fold, striking both their miners, and the miners placed in alt corps to avoid
the fallout of Ubuntu activities. As of April 2012, Ubuntu declared war against our alliance, of which there has been serious blows to both
sides. But make no mistake, Ubuntu is the invading and aggressing force, and struck the first blow against us. We are not leaving our home
and we will continue to defend it from invaders.
PSA: Fleet Adverts
March 5, 2012, Lyphar
The above screenshot shows proper settings for setting up a fleet advert in our corp. It allows for Corp/Alliance/Blue Standings players
to join fleet without having to individually invite each one. Also you should not place your location in any part of the description/name,
and turn on "Hide Details". Fleet adverts can also be linked in chats so as people can join them easily. In the fleet window, go to the
fleet finder tab, hit find fleets to find a fleet or My Advert to make an advert.
PSA: Watch your Security Status
March 2, 2012, Lyphar
As everyone edges towards low sec and 0.0, one must keep an eye on one's security status. Exalior has long had a low security status,
but I have only recently move him to a logi/indust. role. Even when providing logi support for a fleet, you will loose sec status.
Well not paying attention, I flew his JF around to pick up parts for Telfar's Phoenix build at the time. Stepped into Amarr and got the
warning "Criminals are not allowed". I was aligned towards a point, and attempted to warp but got caught by concord instantly. Only thing
I could do was tank through all the pirates trying to bump me off my path back through the gate I had come through. Local was in a frenzy
trying to down my JF but, I hauled ass to the gate, jumping out and throwing all of Amarr the bird as I did so. Rediculously high structure
HPs saved me, but don't let this happen to you. Remember anything below -2 Sec Status isn't allowed in 1.0 Sec Systems. -2.5 for .9 sys. and so on.
